Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation Supports New Inclusive Playground in Community Park with a $100,000 Donation
The Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation has donated $100,000 towards the construction
of a new universal playground in Community Park scheduled to break ground this September 2019. The Lisle Park District plans to renovate and replace the 23-year-old Community Park Playground with a universal, all-inclusive design, where every child & adult, regardless of ability or disability is welcomed and benefits physically, developmentally, emotionally, and socially from the environment.
With an approximate budget of $550,000 for the playground, the foundation was very excited to jump start the project with a $100,000 donation and be a part of this remarkable and life-changing experience that will benefit everyone. The remainder of the costs will further be reduced by non-tax dollars through an agreement between the Village of Lisle and Marquette Companies for the Marq on Main apartment and retail complex in downtown Lisle. The development's associated and agreed upon an impact fee donation to the park district of $324,000, to be split between Marquette Development and the Village of Lisle who has one half of their expense included in the Village’s 2018-2019 budget, was approved on March 19, 2018. Fundraising for the remaining balance of the cost has already begun and we are hopeful other businesses, individuals and families will make financial contributions towards making the playground a reality and possibly eliminating the need to complete the playground using any tax dollars.
